Our Story
Founded in 1990, MoveFwd Inc, originally known as Teens Alone, emerged from the collective concern of local high school social workers about the rising number of teens facing homelessness and mental health challenges. With the support of schools, police, and community members, the organization was established to provide essential services to vulnerable youth.
Today, MoveFwd operates in 18 middle and high schools across four west suburban districts, offering therapy and basic needs support. In 2014, a significant milestone was reached as MoveFwd began providing transitional housing and drop-in center services, directly addressing the needs of suburban youth experiencing housing instability.
Relocated to the Eisenhower Community Center in 2015, MoveFwd thrives in a space that is accessible and welcoming, thanks to the generous in-kind support from the Hopkins School District. This strategic location allows for easy access to public transportation and nearby employment opportunities, creating a nurturing environment for all MoveFwd programs.
Impact
MoveFwd services empower struggling young people to re-stabilize, stay in school, and work towards adult stability and success.
