Our Story

Mountaineer Spay Neuter Assistance Program (M-SNAP) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the pet overpopulation crisis in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Founded in January 2008, M-SNAP has been at the forefront of promoting spay/neuter as the primary solution to reduce the number of unwanted and abandoned animals. Through a targeted voucher program, M-SNAP raises awareness and provides financial assistance to pet owners, ensuring that spaying and neutering become the norm rather than the exception.

Impact

In 2023 alone, M-SNAP volunteers facilitated over $1 million in spay/neuter surgeries, significantly decreasing the number of homeless animals and reducing euthanasia rates in the community.
