Our Story

Founded in 1969 by Virginia Glass, Payton Cook, and John Leggett, the Mountain View Sports & Racquet Club began as a humble tennis club with just two courts at Ocean View Park. In 1975, the club relocated to Martin Luther King Jr. Park, where it expanded to seven courts with the help of HUD funding. In 2006, MVSRC transitioned into a charitable organization, taking on the responsibility of maintaining the tennis courts at MLK Park. Today, it stands as the most diverse tennis club in the city, proudly serving as the home courts for the Mighty "Tigers" of Morse High School for the past 20 years, mentoring young athletes to become college-bound and responsible community members.

Impact

The Mountain View Sports & Racquet Club is dedicated to promoting tennis as a vehicle for physical and social development among youth, especially in under-resourced areas. The club has played a crucial role in mentoring young athletes, guiding them towards college opportunities.
