Our Story

Co-Founder April Moyer adopted her first dog in 2005, a Boxer, from Adopt a Boxer Rescue. Inspired by this experience, she became an official volunteer in March 2008, bringing her mother, Mary, along for the journey. Over the years, they became deeply involved in the daily operations of the rescue, but their hearts ached for mixed-breed dogs facing euthanasia. In 2012, they began fostering for an all-breed rescue, Phoenix Animal Rescue, to help these dogs in need.

In August 2013, April and Mary took a leap of faith and founded Mostly Muttz Rescue. Since then, this dedicated team has saved over 3,500 dogs, providing them with loving homes and second chances.

Seven years later, Mostly Muttz Rescue has saved over 3500 dogs and counting.
