Our Story
The Monticello Opera House, originally the Perkins Block, was built in 1890 by John H. Perkins. Over the years, it has served as a general store and a theater. In 1972, a dedicated group of citizens incorporated the Monticello Opera House to preserve this historic venue. Since gaining nonprofit status, the organization has worked tirelessly to restore and maintain the building, ensuring it remains a cultural hub for the community.
