About Monterey State Historic Park Association

Founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of state park employees, the Monterey State Historic Park Association (MSHPA) was established to restore and maintain the historic buildings of Monterey State Historic Park. Over the years, the park has expanded to include 20 buildings and a statue, many of which are accessible to the public through guided tours and special arrangements. MSHPA is proud to have a diverse team of volunteers and specialists who passionately share the unique stories of Monterey's past.

Impact of MSHPA

MSHPA plays a crucial role in supporting educational programs, interpretation, and special events at Monterey State Historic Park, enhancing public awareness and appreciation of California's rich history.
