Founded in April 2010, Monterey Bay Roller Derby emerged from the passion of three skaters who sought to create a local roller derby league in Monterey County, California. Frustrated by the long commutes to Santa Cruz, they envisioned a supportive community for skaters. The league quickly expanded, attracting over 20 members at its first meeting, highlighting the strong interest in roller derby in the region.
Monterey Bay Roller Derby inspires and empowers individuals, especially women and girls, to chase their dreams and build confidence through roller derby. The league serves as a vibrant community hub, uniting skaters, officials, volunteers, and fans while promoting values of hard work, perseverance, and respect for diversity.
