Our Story

Founded in 1940, the Monterey Audubon Society is a dedicated volunteer organization focused on conserving and celebrating the diverse birdlife of the greater Monterey Bay region. With a membership of 1,200 individuals across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties, the society engages in educational initiatives, community science, and advocacy efforts.

Impact in 2023

In 2023, the Monterey Audubon Society partnered with local organizations such as the Big Sur Land Trust and the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District to promote bird conservation through outreach, field trips, and events like California Wildlife Day. Monitoring the nesting success of the Black Oystercatcher, the society uses collected data to influence policy and land management decisions.

Why Donate?

Annual memberships are vital for sustaining the important work of celebrating and conserving the birds of the Monterey region.
