Our Story
Monte Vista Grove Homes was established in 1924 by the Synod of California of the Presbyterian Church. Founded by visionaries James Marwick, David Gamble, and Dr. Clarence Spaulding, this organization transformed a Pasadena orange grove into a vibrant community for nearly 200 senior adults. The founders aimed to provide essential retirement housing for ministers and missionaries, a mission that continues today.
Impact on Seniors
MVGH offers compassionate, holistic support through four levels of care: Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Enhanced Assisted Living. This diverse community includes Presbyterian pastors, missionaries, and church workers, ensuring quality care for all residents.
