Our Story

The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts began in November 2015 with a suitcase full of original music charts and the original drum set from the Twin Coaches Supper Club in Belle Vernon, PA. Driven by the motto 'Save the music and pass it on to the next generation,' the late Maestro Joe Campus and local musician Mark Smith have worked tirelessly to create a vibrant arts community. With a permanent office location, teaching facility, and an accessible display area, MVAA has become the most visible and active nonprofit in the Mon Valley, serving the community and the entire Washington County region.

Impact

The MVAA has offered musical instruction and hosted numerous successful events, including a free summer concert series. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization reached a worldwide audience through online streaming, ensuring that arts and cultural programs continued to engage the community and foster lifelong learning.
