Our Story

Moms on the Run was founded in 1999 by Barbara and JP Pinocchio after the loss of Barbara’s sister, Debra, to breast cancer. Witnessing the emotional and financial struggles faced by families during such a challenging time, the Pinocchios organized a small race to raise funds for a local woman battling cancer. What began as a modest goal of $1,000 quickly transformed into a remarkable event that raised over $100,000. Today, Moms on the Run is the largest race of its kind in Reno, attracting over 5,000 participants each year and enabling the organization to give back more than $500,000 annually to support women in need.

Impact

Since its inception, Moms on the Run has raised an astounding $6.5 million, directly assisting 5,500 women in Northern Nevada who are facing the challenges of breast or gynecological cancer.
