Our Story
Established in 1948, the Modesto Gospel Mission began with a vision to feed the hungry and homeless in Modesto. Founded by John Haine using leftover funds from one of Billy Graham’s early crusades, it became a formal nonprofit in 1953. For over 75 years, The Mission has been dedicated to serving the poor and homeless, providing not just food and shelter, but also spiritual guidance and recovery programs.

Each year, the Modesto Gospel Mission serves over 2,091 individuals experiencing homelessness, offering meals, shelter, and transformative recovery programs that empower individuals to reintegrate into society.
