Our Story
In 1998, the Fresh Food Access grant from L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan’s office paved the way for the establishment of a certified farmers market in underserved communities. Under the leadership of Executive Director Cynthia Ojeda, the Model Neighborhood Program became the first non-profit to receive this grant, launching the La Cienega Farmers Market on May 4, 2000. For over 20 years, this market has been a vital source of fresh produce and a hub for community engagement.
