Our Story

In August 2016, eight Cambodian Americans from Minnesota were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Their families rallied together, leading to the #ReleaseMN8 grassroots campaign that garnered national attention and resulted in the release of three of the eight men. Minnesota 8 was founded to combat deportation cases and support Southeast Asian communities affected by systemic oppression.

Impact

Since 2002, over 17,000 Southeast Asians have received final orders of removal. Minnesota 8 fights deportation cases to restore dignity and justice, aiming for systemic transformation and liberation for these communities.
