Our Story
The roots of Metro Lutheran Ministry (MLM) trace back to the 1960s when dedicated pastors and lay members of the Lutheran Church sought to address the changing urban landscape of Kansas City. On December 5, 1971, MLM was established to serve Jesus Christ more effectively in the metropolitan area. With the leadership of Dr. Walter Kloetzli and Luther Johnson, MLM has grown to include 48 partner churches, providing vital services to families in Jackson and Clay Counties, Missouri, and Wyandotte County, Kansas.
