About Mission Indy

Founded in 1996, Mission Indy emerged from Chapel Rock Christian Church with a vision to inspire teens to transform their communities through service. The organization encourages young people to view their faith as a lifestyle, not just a temporary mission trip. In its inaugural summer, over 200 youth and adults from 20 churches united to serve the inner city of Indianapolis, laying the groundwork for a movement that has only grown since.

Our Journey

From 1998 to 2000, Mission Indy expanded its reach, engaging 300 participants from 25 churches. Rather than starting new initiatives, the focus has always been on partnering with existing churches and ministries to maximize impact. In 2001, Mission Indy officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allowing for greater support from churches and individuals alike.

Over the years, Mission Indy has evolved, adding more weeks to its summer program and incorporating strategic training elements to equip participants for effective service. The organization has welcomed various leaders who have contributed to its growth, including the addition of college interns to enhance the summer experience.
