Our Story

The Minnesota Land Trust was founded in 1991 by dedicated citizens aiming to preserve the rural character of their communities. Initially known as the Washington County Land Trust, it expanded its mission statewide in 1993, focusing on protecting and restoring vital natural lands across Minnesota.

Our Impact

Thanks to the generosity of donors, landowners, and volunteers, the Minnesota Land Trust has completed 719 projects, preserving 570 shoreline miles and protecting 82,528 acres of land.
