Our Story
The Milanof-Schock Library, located in Mount Joy, has a rich history that began in 1962 as a community project by a Girl Scout troop. Over the years, it has transformed from a bookmobile service to a dedicated building established in 1999, thanks to the unwavering support and donations from the community.
Impact
Recognized as the 'Best Small Library in America' in 2006 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the library serves approximately 70,000 visitors annually. It raises over half of its operating budget through community donations and fundraising events, showcasing its vital role in the community.
