Our Story

In May 1981, Rev. Ben Fore returned from Atlanta with a vision to combat hunger in Macon. This vision led to the incorporation of the Macon Area Food Bank in 1982, starting with just $1,000 in funding. Over the years, the organization evolved into the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, becoming a certified affiliate of Feeding America in 1993. This partnership significantly increased food supplies and funding, allowing MGCFB to serve 24 counties in Middle Georgia.

Impact

In 2020, MGCFB distributed a record-breaking 12 million pounds of food, providing over 10 million meals to neighbors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why Donate?

Your contributions are vital. For every $1 donated, MGCFB can supply 8 meals to food-insecure neighbors, covering essential resources like food, labor, and fuel for distribution.
