Mid-State Literacy Council

Our Story

Founded in 1971, Mid-State Literacy Council is dedicated to enhancing literacy for adults in Centre and Clearfield counties. Through the commitment of volunteers, the organization has transformed the lives of thousands, providing essential education to English Language Learners and those with limited reading skills.

Impact

Each year, Mid-State Literacy Council supports 200 students, with two-thirds being women. With 11% of Centre County's population functionally illiterate, the need for literacy education is critical.
