Founded in 1974 as the House of Strings, Mid-City Community Music has evolved into a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to providing music education and community engagement. With a rich history of hosting folk music groups, MCCM now focuses on serving urban teens in San Diego, offering performance workshops, group and private lessons, and a robust teen program.
Currently, MCCM serves over 500 teens in some of San Diego’s most vulnerable communities. Through 20 free art and music workshops each week, teens like Leo find their voices, stay in school, and discover new opportunities.
