Our Story

Founded in 1980, the Mickey Leland Kibbutzim Internship Foundation embodies the vision of the late Congressman Mickey Leland, who believed in the transformative power of cultural exchange. Inspired by his upbringing in Houston's Fifth Ward, the foundation offers students from the 18th Congressional District the opportunity to live, work, and learn in Israel. Over the past 43 years, more than 400 interns have embarked on this life-changing journey, becoming global citizens and ambassadors of understanding.

Impact

With over 400 Leland Interns having experienced Israel, the foundation has played a crucial role in shaping young leaders who contribute positively to their communities.
