Founded in 1967 by Ted Simon and Gordon Hellman, the Michigan Association of Physical Plant Administrators (MIAPPA) was established to create a collaborative network for educational facilities in Michigan. Initially serving state colleges and universities, MIAPPA has expanded to include community colleges and private institutions, now representing approximately 80 member organizations.
