Our Story
MHANY Management Inc. was established in the early 1980s as a response to the housing crisis affecting low- and moderate-income families in East New York and Brownsville. Born from an organizing campaign by ACORN NY, MHANY emerged from the community's urgent need for safe and affordable housing. During a time when entire neighborhoods were neglected, ACORN members took action by reclaiming abandoned buildings, transforming them into livable spaces. This grassroots effort not only pressured the City to address housing issues but also laid the foundation for what would become MHANY. Today, MHANY manages over 2000 apartments across New York City and New Jersey, setting a standard for real affordability and decent living. The organization continues to empower residents, many of whom are active leaders advocating for social change and better living conditions in their neighborhoods.
