Our Story

Founded in 1963 by civil rights leader Dionicio Morales, the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) emerged from a pivotal meeting with Vice President Lyndon Johnson. Initially focused on enhancing opportunities for the Mexican-American community, MAOF has since broadened its mission to serve individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds across California.

MAOF positively impacts over 125,000 individuals annually across seven counties, providing essential services in early childhood education, senior services, and community development.
