Metro Lutheran Ministry

Our Story

The roots of the Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry trace back to the 1960s when dedicated pastors and lay members of the Lutheran Church sought to address the changing urban landscape of Kansas City. On December 5, 1971, the Kansas City Metro Lutheran Ministry was officially established to serve Jesus Christ more effectively in the metropolitan area. With the leadership of Dr. Walter Kloetzli and Luther Johnson, MLM has grown to include 48 partner congregations from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
