Founded in 2003, Bike Easy, originally known as the Metro Bicycle Coalition of New Orleans, emerged from a passionate group of volunteers advocating for dedicated funding for bicycle infrastructure. The organization achieved its first significant victory in 2004 with the "5% for Bikes" initiative, securing 5% of a bond measure for bike infrastructure in New Orleans. In 2008, Bike Easy formalized as a 501c3 nonprofit, marking a new chapter in its mission to enhance biking in the region.

Impact on the Community

Since its inception, Bike Easy has made remarkable strides, including a 300% increase in the number of people biking to work and reaching over 10,000 individuals through its Bike Safety Programs. The organization has also contributed to a 29.3% decrease in the risk of injury while biking, showcasing its commitment to community safety and education.
