Our Story

Founded by Era MacDonald, MerryMac Farm Sanctuary has its roots in a lifelong passion for animal rescue. From a young age, Era nurtured a love for critters, often sneaking them into her childhood home in Kentucky. Her journey evolved from rescuing cats and dogs to embracing the holistic care of horses and other farm animals. With a mission to provide a safe haven for neglected and abandoned animals, MMFS was formalized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Spring 2023. Today, it thrives thanks to a dedicated community of volunteers, visitors, and donors who share a commitment to animal welfare.

Our Impact

MMFS is dedicated to offering permanent, healthy homes for abandoned farm animals, ensuring they live free from abuse and cruelty. The sanctuary also focuses on educating the local community about animal well-being and promoting a culture of equity between animals, people, and the planet.
