Transforming Lives Through Healthcare and Education

In 1994, Dr. George W. Brumley and Dr. Veda Johnson established a health clinic within Whitefoord Elementary School to address the pressing healthcare needs of children and families in southeast Atlanta. Recognizing that healthy children are more likely to succeed in school, the initiative quickly expanded beyond the school-based clinic to meet the broader needs of the community.

By 1998, the vision grew further with the launch of the Child Development Program, aimed at enhancing access to quality preschool education for the youngest residents and improving the livelihoods of their parents and caregivers. Today, Whitefoord is a beacon of hope, providing essential services that address key social determinants of health and advance health equity.

In 2012, Whitefoord opened its first Family Medical Center in the Kirkwood neighborhood, followed by the Whitefoord Health Center in 2020. These Federally Qualified Health Centers are dedicated to delivering affordable and accessible primary medical care, dental care, and behavioral health services in community settings. Additionally, the Whitefoord Early Learning Academy offers childcare and early learning services, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment.

Making a Lasting Impact

In 2022, Whitefoord served over 3,400 patients and educated 101 children at the Early Learning Academy, demonstrating a profound commitment to community health and education.
