Our Story

Founded in 1980 by Jeff and Paula Thompson, Mercy Projects, originally known as Eastern European Outreach, was established to combat the social orphan crisis in the former Soviet Union. The organization focuses on preventing children from becoming orphans due to family breakdown caused by alcoholism, unemployment, and poverty. In 1994, a Charity Fund was opened in Kyiv, Ukraine, to support single mothers and impoverished families, ensuring children remain with their families.
