Our Story

Mercy House Inc, founded by Penny Grunder, a dedicated former Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, has been making a significant impact in Haiti for over 19 years. After the devastating earthquake in 2008, Penny and her husband Tom felt a profound calling to help the children of Haiti. With a vision to create a nurturing environment, they secured 6 acres in Mattieu and 3 acres in Marachal, establishing a safe haven for vulnerable children.

Recognized as an approved organization in Haiti, Mercy House has successfully drilled a well that provides clean water to approximately 400 families, drastically reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses that previously claimed the lives of 25% of children under five. Currently, Mercy House cares for 19 children, including true orphans and those rescued from trafficking, ensuring they receive love, education, and a chance for a brighter future.
