Our Story

Founded in 1988 by Father Jerome T. Karcher, Mercy House began with a mission to address homelessness after encountering a young man living in an abandoned garage. Over the past thirty years, Mercy House has expanded its reach, serving 1,500 at-risk and homeless individuals and families annually across six counties in California and Arizona. With a commitment to providing dignified housing and comprehensive supportive services, Mercy House has positively impacted over 100,000 homeless individuals since its inception.

Our Impact

Every year, Mercy House serves over 7,000 men, women, and children, focusing on breaking the cycle of homelessness through a complete system of care that includes outreach, emergency shelters, and permanent housing.
