Founded in 1992 by the Sisters of Mercy of Detroit, Mercy Education Project (MEP) began with a mission to provide tutoring for economically disadvantaged girls in southwest Detroit. Starting with just 14 girls, MEP has grown to offer GED classes, adult basic education, job training, and digital literacy education, adapting to the evolving needs of the community.
Since its inception, MEP has positively impacted the lives of over 5,000 women and girls, helping them achieve educational success and personal growth. Through personalized learning plans and socio-emotional support, MEP fosters educational and economic mobility.
