MENTOR Rhode Island
EIN: 05-0443260 · Warwick, RI
Our Story
In 1990, a partnership was formed among Warwick Public Schools, MetLife, and the Chamber Education Foundation to create a mentoring program aimed at helping youth succeed. What began with just 10 volunteer mentors and 10 elementary school students has blossomed into nearly 300 mentoring pairs across all 26 Warwick Schools. Thanks to the generosity of The Feinstein Foundation, this successful model has expanded statewide, leading to the establishment of MENTOR Rhode Island. Since 1999, MENTOR Rhode Island has been the statewide expert in mentoring, providing extensive training for mentors and program coordinators, fostering collaboration among agencies, and advocating for mentoring initiatives.
Impact
Your donation today can significantly improve a child's tomorrow. Research indicates that one in three young people lack access to a mentor in their lives. This is a pressing social justice issue, as children from underprivileged backgrounds often miss out on positive adult relationships that their more affluent peers enjoy. MENTOR Rhode Island collaborates with schools and youth organizations to expand support systems for young people, addressing educational inequities.
Why Donate?
Every child is just one caring adult relationship away from becoming a success story. By joining the mentoring movement, you contribute to building a stronger community centered on positive relationships for kids. Your investment is vital to ensuring that no young person in Rhode Island grows up without a network of caring adults.
