Our Story

Founded in 1948, the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee has been a beacon of hope for individuals facing mental health challenges. Initially focused on the needs of Knoxville and Knox County, the Association recognized the pressing need for mental health services in rural areas. In 1994, it expanded its reach as the MHA of Greater Knoxville, and by 2003, it proudly serves thirty counties across East Tennessee. Affiliated with Mental Health America, the Association is dedicated to addressing mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring issues.

Impact

Each year, the Mental Health Association provides essential early intervention, information, and peer support services to thousands of individuals. Advocacy efforts ensure that those who cannot speak for themselves receive the help they need.
