About Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center

Founded in 1884 by Mrs. Clara Blanch Ellis Starr, the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is the oldest continuously operating music organization in the United States. Originally established to enhance music for women, MPAC has evolved from intimate gatherings to vibrant public performances across Rockford.

Impact on the Community

MPAC is dedicated to presenting exciting, personal, and interactive music experiences that enrich the Rockford community. Through various performance programs, including scholarship recitals and Sunday afternoon jazz concerts, MPAC nurtures local talent and fosters a love for the arts.

Why Donate to MPAC?

MPAC relies on the generosity of its supporters to continue its mission. Contributions help create a space that better serves the arts community, support programs, and leave a lasting legacy of music. Whether through capital campaigns, planned giving, or volunteering, every effort counts!
