Our Story

The Memphis Young Men’s Christian Association was founded in 1855, inspired by the movement that began in London. Overcoming challenges such as the Civil War and Yellow Fever epidemics, the YMCA was reorganized in 1883 and established a permanent facility in 1909. For over a century, this facility has been a vital part of the Memphis community, now operating 11 full facility branches and 3 program branches.
