Our Story

Founded in 1976, the Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA) emerged from the vision of Police Chief David Varrelman, who recognized the need for a dedicated paramedic response unit in Mt. Lebanon. Over the years, MRTSA has evolved into a vital non-profit organization, offering both emergency and non-emergency medical transport while prioritizing community education and patient care.

Impact

MRTSA has transformed emergency medical response in its service areas, ensuring timely and professional care for patients in need. The organization has pioneered advanced medical practices, including ECMO eligibility in prehospital care, and has engaged thousands in CPR and emergency response training.
