Meating the Need

Our Story

In March 2007, two dedicated friends recognized a pressing need in San Antonio. After years of volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, they discovered that the facility required a consistent supply of high-quality protein to enhance the meals served to those in need. This realization led to the establishment of Meating the Need, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to sourcing frozen meats and essential food items through a partnership with Sysco Foods.

Our Impact

Since moving to the Prospects Courtyard at Haven for Hope in June 2010, Meating the Need has been instrumental in providing approximately 1,200 meals daily to the homeless community in downtown San Antonio. This initiative not only nourishes individuals but also fosters a sense of dignity and hope.
