Founded in March 2021, Meals for Unity emerged in response to the alarming rise in violence against the AAPI community. What began as a one-time meal distribution in Manhattan’s Chinatown has transformed into a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on addressing food insecurity and raising awareness of social inequalities faced by vulnerable communities in New York City.
With the support of over 500 volunteers, Meals for Unity has successfully distributed more than 14,000 meals across four boroughs, significantly impacting the lives of those in need, particularly AAPI seniors.
