Founded in 1975 by Monsignor Ignatius McDermott and Dr. James West, Haymarket Center is the largest not-for-profit community-based adult detoxification, residential, and outpatient substance use treatment facility in Chicago. This organization is dedicated to providing culturally competent, high-quality primary health care services to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty, many of whom have justice system backgrounds.

Serving over 12,000 people annually, Haymarket Center has achieved remarkable outcomes, including an 87% reduction in alcohol and drug use, a 64% decrease in mental health symptoms, and a 91% reduction in criminal activity among clients.
