Our Story

Founded in 2007 by marine biologist Robin Newbold and community visionary Uncle Ed Lindsey, Maui Nui Marine Resource Council is committed to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the coral reefs of Maui Nui. The organization was born from a deep concern for the significant decline of coral reefs and native fish populations in the area, working collaboratively with the community to create science-based solutions to environmental challenges.

Impact

Maui Nui Marine Resource Council has successfully implemented community-based programs that address the threats to coral reefs and ocean water quality in Maui County. Initiatives like the Maui Coral Reef Recovery Team and the Hui O Ka Wai Ola water quality testing program engage local residents in monitoring and protecting marine resources.
