Our Story

Founded in January 1995, Matthews Playhouse of Performing Arts emerged from a vision to create a vibrant theatre for children in Matthews, North Carolina. The inaugural production, Alice in Wonderland, showcased the immense talent and enthusiasm of over 100 young auditioners, solidifying the community's desire for quality theatre. Since then, the Playhouse has blossomed from just two productions a year to a thriving community theatre offering a full season of plays and year-round classes.
