Mattea Joy Freedlund was born on April 13, 2009, facing severe medical challenges. Her parents, Gary and Jamie Freedlund, cherished nine and a half months with her, primarily spent at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. This profound experience inspired the creation of Mattea's Joy, a nonprofit established on April 13, 2010, dedicated to supporting families in similar situations.
