Our Story
The Matt Talbot Retreat Movement began in 1941 when three alcoholics from Ridgewood, New Jersey, attended a Laymen’s retreat at Loyola Retreat House. Inspired by their experience, they returned the following year with eleven men, leading to the establishment of a dedicated retreat group for Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, the movement has expanded to 190 groups across the US and Canada, with approximately 117,000 members, all committed to spiritual enrichment and support for individuals in recovery.
