Our Story

The Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR) was founded in 1991 to unite addiction-oriented groups in a coalition aimed at supporting the licensing of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. Originally known as The Massachusetts Organization of Americans for Recovery, MOAR has evolved to combat discrimination against individuals with addiction, expanding its mission with support from various state and national organizations.

Impact

MOAR has established a robust network across New England, enhancing insurance coverage for addiction treatment and engaging in vital public health campaigns, such as the Good Samaritan Campaign, which protects individuals seeking emergency help during an overdose.
