About Masbia Soup Kitchen Network

Masbia Soup Kitchen Network began as a grassroots initiative to combat hunger in New York City. Founded by Mordechai Mandelbaum and Alexander Rapaport, the organization opened its doors on April 3, 2005, as Brooklyn’s first kosher soup kitchen. The vision was simple yet profound: to create a clean, welcoming space where individuals and families could enjoy nourishing kosher meals at no cost. Over the years, Masbia has evolved significantly, serving millions of meals to those in need, including children and the elderly.

Our Impact

Today, Masbia operates three locations and distributes over 2 million meals annually. The organization has expanded its services to include the Weekend Take-Home Package program, providing over 1,000 food packages each week. By partnering with local farmers and community-supported agriculture programs, Masbia ensures that fresh produce is available to those it serves. The commitment to tackling hunger remains steadfast, with a mission to provide hot, nutritious meals free of charge.
