The Mary Mitchell Family and Youth Center, established in 1997, stands as a beacon of hope in the Crotona community of The Bronx. Born from a thirty-year struggle to uplift a neighborhood plagued by arson and abandonment, the Center embodies the vision of Mary Mitchell, who opened her home to families in need and engaged youth in sports and play. Her dream, championed by dedicated neighbors, led to the creation of a community center that fosters youth development and family activities.

Impacting Lives Through Dedicated Programs

Since its inception, the Center has developed after-school youth programs, initiated The Food Justice Club, and supported over 25 small, volunteer-run groups. These initiatives have significantly improved community engagement and youth development, transforming vacant lots into vibrant community spaces.
