Our Story

Founded in 1908 by Jane Addams, the Mary Crane Center began as a Day Nursery at Hull House, inspired by a donation from Richard Teller Crane. This initiative transformed early childhood education, focusing on underprivileged children in Chicago. Over the years, the Center has expanded its reach, now serving communities in Rogers Park, Austin, and West Garfield Park, while remaining committed to its mission of nurturing young minds.
