Affordable Housing

Our Story

Marty's Place Affordable Housing Corporation was founded in 1993 by Richard Purcell, a Franciscan friar, to provide essential housing for low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS in San Francisco. Following the passing of his brother Marty, Richard dedicated his life to caring for those in need until his own death in 2011. The organization operates under a member-based, democratic social housing model, emphasizing independent living and community participation.

Our Impact

Marty's Place addresses the critical need for affordable housing for long-term, HIV-positive San Franciscans, fostering a supportive community and ensuring access to essential medical care.
